Monclova Christian Academy (MCA) desires to share our guidance program with other like-faith and like-sized Christian schools that may not have the financial resources to staff a guidance office with a dedicated guidance counselor. To that end, the program that is established upon completion of the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professional’s (NACCAP) Guidance Certificate Program will be made available to other schools for them to review and modify to fit their school and their student’s needs.

The Association of Christian School International (ACSI) and MCA are partnering with the NACCAP professional guidance counselor certification program to collaborate on the distribution of the MCA college and career guidance office capstone project. A web page will be the most effective method of reaching other God-sized schools where emerging counselors support students from the classroom and the college and career guidance office with a model “curriculum” for developing their high school guidance program.

Timeline for Development of the Web Site:

The balance of this academic year will be focused on completion of the NACCAP graduate certificate program and the development of the initial sections of the web page including the first 3 essentials: the college admissions process, student assessment of interests, and the God-given motivations for college major/career match. During the summer of 2017, the website will have sections added on financial aid and counseling the college bound student specifically. The academic year 2017/2018 will bring completion of the website by developing resources for the career only driven student, students with special learning needs (learning challenges, English as Second Language), and the development of a virtual mentoring program for users of the website. Ongoing peer review of the content and usability of the website will be conducted to allow revisions as needed.
